Smallest detectable difference in radiological progression.
Omeract IV started a discussion on the development of radiological response criteria in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Such criteria depend on the definition of what constitutes the minimum clinically important progression of damage. Because such a definition is currently not available, as a first step we have used the concept of random measurement error to determine what is the smallest detectable...
متن کاملOn Detectable and Non-detectable Structural Change
A range of parameter changes in I(1) cointegrated time series are not reflected in econometric models thereof, in that many shifts are not easily detected by conventional tests. The breaks in question are changes that leave the unconditional expectations of the I(0) components unaltered. Thus, dynamics, adjustment speeds etc. may alter without detection. However, shifts in long-run means are ge...
متن کاملHigh-frequency percussive ventilation: pneumotachograph validation and tidal volume analysis.
INTRODUCTION High-frequency percussive ventilation (HFPV) is an increasingly used mode of mechanical ventilation, for which there is no proven real-time means of measuring delivered tidal volume (V(T)). OBJECTIVE To validate a pneumotachograph for HFPV and then exploit flow-sensor data to describe the behavior of both low-frequency and high-frequency breaths. METHODS Sensor performance was ...
متن کاملMinimal changes in health status questionnaires: distinction between minimally detectable change and minimally important change
Changes in scores on health status questionnaires are difficult to interpret. Several methods to determine minimally important changes (MICs) have been proposed which can broadly be divided in distribution-based and anchor-based methods. Comparisons of these methods have led to insight into essential differences between these approaches. Some authors have tried to come to a uniform measure for ...
متن کاملThe smallest neutrino mass
We consider models where one Majorana neutrino is massless at tree level (like the see saw with two right-handed neutrinos), and compute the contribution to its mass m generated by two-loop quantum corrections. The result is m ∼ 10 eV in the SM and m ∼ 10 eV · (tan β/10) in the MSSM, compatible with the restricted range suggested by Affleck-Dine baryogenesis.
